As I’ve already mentioned I do think that an element of chance is an integral part of my work in incremental steps and I do think it’s all about intention and what you ultimately want to create. For my current work chance doesn’t apply or relate to it fully. Chance may happen through my drawing processes.
Having researched the topic I found some useful information on the Moma website
https://www.moma.org/magazine/articles/393
There was quite a bit of information about various artists who use chance and it also invited the viewer to experiment. Ellsworth Kelly used random colours in a grid form and did this to eliminate the ‘I made this’ from his work. An example is below that I found on google images as Moma wouldn’t allow downloading.

The colours work well and remind me of Mondrian.
William Anastasia, artist, is also featured on the site. He creates chance with drawing experiments. “I love walking,” William Anastasi explained. “I find that walking does something to my thinking, to my mental process, that is different from sitting or lying down.” An experiment was to fold a piece of paper into sections and place in his pocket. He added a pencil which he then pressed against the paper as he walked. Again I couldn’t download from their site so googled this image of his work but without any size dimensions.

What I like about the artists work is how he is also inspired while walking and doing outdoors.
