As I read the article on the interview by Michael Auping with Bruce Nauman I was quite intrigued by the work titled Mapping 1 ( Fat chance John Cage).
A photo of the work is below. I found this by googling the title of the work and found the website Dia: which stands for the Dia Foundation that helps and features many well known artists. http://www.diaart.org.
The images depict some of the video work by Nauman. The storytelling was about the cat and mice in his studio. The multiple nocturnal projections captured the mice but he also captured all the activity in the studio and the discarded materials throughout the summer of 2000.

I also found more information on the Tate website and this time the images are of Mapping the studio II with color shift, flip, flop, & flip/flop (Fat Chance John Cage)

These installations were completed by chance. Having run out of ideas for work the artist stated. ‘You work with what you’ve got.’ As he watched the cat and the mice in his studio he decided to use his infrared camera and start to video the happenings for one hour each night.
The leftovers and debris from the work I make is an integral part of the process of making. I do tend to be a hoarder and believe that nothing is wasted. For example when I cut a mount board to mount a picture, I keep the inner card for a smaller work. I keep lino cut shavings and use these as texture in an impasto painting. I believe I fully embrace recycling in my studio as I do with household waste. What I find difficult is that Nauman was stuck for ideas. I have always been very inventive and I’m never short of ideas. What is difficult is making time available to execute them.
